LOS ANGELES, CA – (August 4, 2008) - International comedy sensation Russell Peters will premiere his latest comedy special RED, WHITE AND BROWN on SHOWTIME on Thursday, September 4th at 10 PM ET/PT. In addition, Peters will host SHOWTIME's new stand-up comedy series COMICS WITHOUT BORDERS – a half-hour, nine-episode series to premiere the following Thursday, September 11th at 10PM ET/PT.
In RED, WHITE AND BROWN, Peters delivers material from his record-breaking HOMECOMING TOUR, which includes tales of his travels to India and Dubai, as well as his own issues with body hair, the World Cup and his take on cheap Indians. The special is recorded live before a sold-out audience at The WAMU Theatre at Madison Square Garden.
Premiering the following week, Peters will host COMICS WITHOUT BORDERS, a showcase of multi-cultural stand-up comedians – both well known and up-and-coming.
During his 19 years as a professional comic, Peters has headlined and sold out shows from London to Sydney to Toronto to New York City. He is also the first comic of South Asian heritage to sell out Madison Square Garden. Much of his comedy speaks to immigrant communities around the world – Indian, Arab, Caribbean, Chinese, Filipino, Korean, and Vietnamese – that even now remain invisible to mainstream media. As an Anglo-Indian, his comedy is rooted in the reality of growing up brown in white Canadian society. His YouTube videos have been viewed by more than 14 million unique viewers and his website, www.russellpeters.com, gets more than 10,000 hits a day. Last year, Peters was the first North American comic to tour India.
RED, WHITE AND BROWN is executive produced by Russell Peters and Clayton Peters.
COMICS WITHOUT BORDERS is executive produced by Scott Montoya, Gary Binkow, Russell Peters, Clayton Peters, Michael Green and Jeff Golenberg and is produced by Salient Media.
